Granada Street

Located on one side of the famous Alcazaba fortress, Granada Street has been an important part of the city’s development since it was first built in the 16th century.

As you walk down this cobbled street you can admire some of its most iconic buildings such as the Royal Chapel, which dates back to 1518 and houses paintings by Goya and Zurbarán. Further along is El Real de la Alhambra Palace with its stunning Moorish architecture, which was once home to King Alfonso X during his visits to Malaga.

The street also boasts several impressive churches including San Agustín Church where visitors can find beautiful works from renowned Spanish painters such as Murillo and Valdés Leal. If you take a stroll further down Granada Street, you will come across Plaza del Obispo Square – an old square that used to be known for bullfights before being transformed into a peaceful public space lined with trees and benches for visitors to relax in front of magnificent fountains dating back centuries ago.

Aside from its architectural gems, Granada Street is also well-known for its bustling nightlife scene, with many bars and restaurants offering delicious local cuisine or tapas dishes accompanied by live music performances throughout the week. It’s no wonder why so many locals flock here after dark.

Finally, don’t forget about La Merced Market, where vendors sell everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts – perfect if you’re looking for souvenirs or gifts while exploring this historic area.
