Fairmont Empress

It is located on the Inner Harbour of Victoria and overlooks the Parliament Buildings, making it one of the most iconic landmarks in the city.

Originally opened in 1908 as “The New” Hotel Vancouver, The Fairmont Empress was built by Canadian Pacific Railway to serve as a grand railway hotel. At its opening ceremony, dignitaries from around Canada attended to celebrate this impressive new building. Throughout its history, The Fairmont Empress has hosted royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II and King George VI during their visits to Victoria; notable guests have included Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable who stayed at the hotel while shooting “An Affair To Remember” (1957).

Today, The Fairmont Empress continues to provide luxurious accommodation with 464 guest rooms and suites spread across 11 floors of modern elegance. Guests can enjoy views of either downtown or harbour side from their room’s balcony or terrace. Additional amenities include an indoor pool & hot tub area; fitness centre; spa services; several restaurants & bars offering regional cuisine using local ingredients; 24-hour business centre with complimentary internet access; concierge service and valet parking are also available upon request.

When staying at The Fairmont Empress you will be able to experience all that beautiful Victoria has to offer. From whale watching tours off nearby Ogden Point Breakwater Park (the busiest cruise ship port on Canada’s West Coast) or exploring Butchart Gardens – one of Canada’s National Historic Sites – there is something for everyone here.
